We were recently involved in a project to replace and update the open space CCTV across the district of Inverclyde, replacing the existing fibre optic network using the latest 4G wireless technology – the backbone of transmitting CCTV images.

The implementation of this new technology led to massive infrastructure and operational cost savings across the board while we updated the district to the latest cloud-based technology. The completion of this project, which took place between June 2018 and January 2019, saw seven major towns across the district being linked on one system.

Vodafone led the project, choosing Cloudview as the company to be the CCTV technology partner. Bridge Fire & Security were selected to manage the implementation, installation and commission of the project. Gary Stokes, Operations Director at Bridge Fire & Security, oversaw the project. The project included a period of pre-build in our High Wycombe facility, creating special equipment pods to enable the most effective manner of installation.

This project included liaison with local authorities regarding traffic management in order to keep disruption to a minimum. Camera installation ranged from camera poles positioned in the centre of roundabouts, to high street retail buildings. A purpose-built command centre for the CCTV was refurbished in Greenock Police Station, which is managed by the Inverclyde police division.

We’re very pleased with how the project turned out and also proud to have been selected to take part.
